Dessa Thompson

Dessa Thompson has a BS in Education with an Emphasis in Art from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. During her study she specialized in figure drawing and ceramics. After graduating she studied abroad for a semester in Florence, Italy studying Art History, the traditional ceramics of Italy, as well as weaving and bookmaking. When back in the states she taught K-12 Art in Athens, WI for two years before moving to Marathon. Dessa is originally from Woodstock, IL and loves to travel to see her family there as well as her extended family in Missouri. On the weekends she enjoys her hobbies of yoga, cooking, bookmaking, the pottery wheel, and going to the movies.
Lindsay Brillion

Lindsay graduated from University of Wisconsin-Whitewater in December 2012 with a BSE in Business Education. While at Whitewater Lindsay was a Resident Assistant for three years and participated in many activities on campus. She completed her Internship at Lake Mills High School. In her spare time Lindsay enjoys teaching dance, reading and spending time with her fiancé and her dog Wrigley. Lindsay enjoys being a part of the Marathon family.
Erin Bornbach

Erin has a Bachelor's degree from UW-Madison. She completed her teacher certification at Concordia University. She enjoys coaching track and cross country. Erin was born and raised in Stratford, but loves getting to know the children and families in Marathon. She enjoys most all outdoor activities and spending time with family and friends.

John Vanderwyst

John has a BS degree in Technology Education with an emphasis in Architecture and Construction from UW-Stout and a MS degree in Professional Development from UW-River Falls. Since 2007, he has gained experience in 6-12 grade Engineering, Mechanical/Architectural Drafting, Construction, and Woodworking courses. John is excited to teach Project-Lead-The-Way courses here and continue his partnership with NTC and area business/industry leaders to ensure students are prepared for work or continuing education after high school. Mr. V. holds himself and his students to a high academic and moral standard. On the flipside, he enjoys friendly banter with his friends and family over board/card games, racquetball, fantasy football, and ping-pong to name a few. You might also catch him taking on home improvement projects with his wife, Amy, or out for a joy ride on his motorcycle.
Gina Smith

Gina Smith is from Beaver Dam, Wisconsin. She graduated from the University of Minnesota Duluth with degrees in Life, Earth & Middle School Science. She has also completed necessary steps to become licensed in Middle School Language Arts. She taught for 7 years in Minnesota before taking a leave of absence to stay home with her children. In the past three years she has been a substitute teacher at both MVA and MAES. She loves working with the youth in Marathon, especially at the middle school level. Gina enjoys scrapbooking and outdoor activities with her husband and two children.
Tera Fieri

Tera has a BS degree in elementary and middle school education with an emphasis in mathematics from Northland College. Shortly after college, Tera and her husband lived in New Hampshire for two years where she taught sixth and seventh grade math. They then moved to Park Falls, WI, where she taught part-time until she started a full-time position in Phillips teaching sixth grade. Tera is native to Tomahawk, but now resides with her husband and two kids in the Marathon community. They enjoy traveling, camping, kayaking, hiking, and spending time with friends and family.
Adrienne Reed

In 2013, Adrienne graduated with a BA in Broad Field Social Studies Education from the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. After completing a long term sub position in the MVA Special Education classroom during the 2013-2014 school year, Adrienne decided she wanted to pursue her MA in Special Education. She is roughly half way through her program at University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She also the proud coach of MVA volleyball and the Manta Ray swim team. During her free time, you’ll catch her reading a book, enjoying the water on her kayak, throwing clay on a pottery wheel or cruising on her motorcycle.

Dave Duncan

Dave received his BS degree from Martin Luther College and then began his career teaching grades 6‑8 in Nicollet, MN in 2007. He then taught K‑8 in an island school 23 miles off the coast of Maine. Mr. Duncan enjoys integrating technology into his teaching. His interests include reading, fishing, woodworking, and basketball. He and his family are excited to be a part of MAES.

Jeff Schneider

Jeff earned B.S. degrees in Broadfield Social Science & Physical Education from UW-SP. In addition to social studies, he also taught in the physical education department here at Marathon. Mr. Schneider stays busy with coaching football, girls' basketball, and track at Marathon High School. He and his wife Nicole reside in Marathon with their daughter Mayven, and son Brayson.
Colleen Geurink

Colleen has a BS in Agricultural Education with minors in Journalism and Business from UW-River Falls and MS in progress in Agricultural Education at UW-River Falls. Originally from a dairy farm in Omro, Mrs. Geurink taught in Minnesota before beginning her career at Marathon in 1987. She has been honored as the Wisconsin Agriscience Teacher of the Year and serves as the FFA Advisor and Forensics advisor. Her husband, Terry, and her have three children. Mrs. Geurink's hobbies include scrapbooking, quilting, and gardening.
Brock Kuklinski

Brock is from Mosinee WI. He is married to his wife Michelle. He earned his teaching degree from Viterbo University in La Crosse WI. Music is Mr. Kuklinski's passion and he loves to share this with all his students here at Marathon. Mr. Kuklinski is an avid duck hunter and loves going out with his chocolate lab Jasmine in the fall. He enjoys hockey, playing golf, listening to his immense library of music, cribbage, cars, and watching movies.
Sara Sternberg

Sara has a Bachelor of Music-Instrumental Music Education degree and a Bachelor of Music- Applied Flute Performance degree, both from UW- Stevens Point. Prior to teaching at Marathon Public Schools, she taught at the Newman Catholic Schools in Wausau, WI and St. Mary's School in Marathon. Mrs. Sternberg instructs students at both MAES and MHS and directs concert, marching, jazz and pep band as well as several other small ensembles. Outside of music, Sara enjoys spending time with her family, equestrian sports and numerous crafts.
